Will these emerge?

Planted these says about 10 days ago into cool moist no til soil. Since then ,they were subject to snow and a 2 inch pounding rain.Field scouting shows cracks in the seed furrow where beans are trying to emerge, and digging shows them very close to the soil surface. With warm Temps and a warm rain in the forecast on Wed. ,I am hoping they will emerge. This area is about the worst in the field, where the soil is lighter, they are not up yet, but much softer soil and easier to dig the bean out. What is your opinion..? Rotary hoe? Three quarters of the field is of the lighter soil. Thanks for your opinion. Ben

If you have a rotary hoe, it certainly won"t hurt to use it. It is surprising how big of a chunk of dirt can be lifted by sprouting beans. If you had a week of cold, wet weather like we did here, it will take time. But, they are sprouting, not rotting.

They'll be fine. I've seen rowed beans push up chunks of dirt almost a foot long. Warm and a nice 1/2" shower in a few days would be great.

Good seed will have the vigor. A nice little tenth of an inch rain would really help it out. That cold soil slowed it way down.

Rotary hoe wouldn't hurt, but think they should be ok without. The crack is there on the row, is it 30 inch spacing they have a lot of help from their neighbors. If its skiny rows with wider seed spacing then more likely I'd get the hoe out.
