tee jet spray nozzle

trying some different spray nozzles this year for spraying weeds. generally just used the plain old tee jet nozzles that spray straight down, spaced 20" apart and 24" high. this year I got Tee Jet TF-3 nozzles. I got to wondering, do these hang straight down and spray a fan pattern behind the equipment? or do they have to be laying on their side to spray straight down. I've never seen a nozzle that layed on its side but just was wondering.

I am not mistaking tf nozzles are flood nozzles. Flood nozzles are for applying spray to clean dirt for preemerge weed control.

Flood nozzles will not give good pentetration and coverage in standing weeds or crops like a fan nozzle will.

Flood nozzles are mounted up and down ( same nozzle body as a fan tip) and are directed to spray toward the back.
