Wondering if anyone has signed up for this program and if it is working for you. We have honey bees.

havent heard about it. i started beekeeping last year for my fruit trees. have a second hive due in mid april.

glenster good luck with them.what breed of bees did you choose? I've been at it 15 or 17 years, need any advice, will be glad to try to help. As you know worker bees are female, what makes them happy today may not tomorrow.

not sure what kind they are. mine did make it thru the winter, and i have been feeding them since end of january. i treated with an oxalic vaporizer for varroa, and have apivar strips in the hive right now. they will come out before i put the honey supers on. i did join a beekeeps club in january and have been getting a lot of infothere. last month they had someone out from the dept of ag talking about diseases. there were three new diseases last year that came from imported bees, so they are placing a ban on importing bees for a while. one was nosema serranna, then an israieli acute virus and i for get the other. it got spread nation wide from the california pecan pollinator hives. heres a couple pics of my bees

I ordered stingless bees from Montgomery Ward when I was a kid, 50 years ago. They stung worse than the wild hive I had.

I looked at your 1st picture, please be careful when pulling a frame out of the center of the hive. You take a chance of injuring your queen. We usually pull an outside frame and try to side the frames apart, giving us a little more room to look. Please don't get upset, I am not trying to tell you how to do bees, just making a suggestion.
