Can anyone tell me how much space a ton of loose hay would take up in a barn?

Why do want to put up loose hay?

Don"t necessarily, but want to build a barn that will hold 5 acres of Haygrazer,sudan grass hay loose, IN CASE I want to put it up loose. I have a square bailer, But I also have a loose hay loader, and a square bale loader. I have the hay forks for the barn.

Reverse engineer it...there are formulas for determining tons of hay in an existing stack. google "determining tons of loose hay in a stack".

I read somewhere , if I remember it rightly, that a stack 7ft X 12ft X 10ft would be a ton. Does that sound right??
