I've had a 14T baler for several years and operated them for about 45 years. In between, there hae been a lot of IH and NH balers. But I just bought (for the right price) a 224T at an auction. How much difference is there in the two JD's???

I don't need too many idiot cubes, and make a few for some neighbors. Just wondering how much difference there is in the machines......

224T is am lot higher capacity baler than a 14T. It has ball brg rollers on PH instead of pads. You need to get you a spare brass shear pin(parts key 2)for the knotter drive chain. Man have the shear pins advanced in price(cents to $'s) from when I sold them back in the 60's- 80's.

I run both a 24 T and a 348 jd balers. Bales out of both get sold but the 24t in the 3rd or 4th cutting makes nicer bales. Just my 2 cents but a 224 T in good shape will do what you want.

lol That's what I mean. NH had a 'bolt' that looked kinda like one of those little foam paintbrushes they sell- about 6 " long,
1/2 " bolt, that had a flat plate on top and was used to keep the arms on a 255-256 rake tedder sraight while tedding. CNH wanted
$47 for one the last time I priced them. I made some in the shop for the cost of a bolt and a piece of 1 1/2 x 3/8" strap. Cost
to me was about $.50......

I priced the bolts in the brake actuator in my Oliver 1650 from AGCO, $40 ea times 4. Glad I didn't just grind the suckers off. I could have them made for less than the stealership wants.
