Oliver 565 4-Bottom- Rear Bottom Depth

Trying out a 565 4-14 semi-mounted Oliver plow behind a Farmall 826 (which may be my problem ( : < ) - the green and red don't mix).

This is my first experience with a semi-mounted. It plows straight but it's operating at a nose down attitude with the front share working about 2 inch deeper than the rear. The tailwheel is not holding it up... got several inches of slack between the stop and the mechanism. Have made about five rounds this morning (a half mile in each direction). The ground is a bit tough (it's clay and it hasn't rained here a lot until yesterday, then only a 10th) and I don't have a full scour on the shares yet. If these are possible causes, confirmation of that would help.

The other issue is that I can't get my front track adjusted. The rear is out where it should be but I need to slide my axles out the 2-1/2 inches (each side) to match the rear and they are frozen by rust. I have the clamps loose with smaller diameter pins so maybe after a while I can break them loose dynamically (I pounded for hours yesterday, broke a high lift jack and even used a winch to no avail). I have been riding that front wheel up on the edge of the furrow, just inside the center rib of the tire. Works OK to run it down in the hole but it pulls harder.

Anyway, I am fortified with a strong dose of caffeine and will try again and come back later to check if someone has posted any ideas. Many thanks.

Answered my own question... tough ground and lack of scouring. Got to the better parts of the field and she sucked right down. Shares were good and scoured by then too.

You are correct in that the tailwheel is not holding it up. It should not be, it should be able to float. I also put the hyd lever in float so the rear cyl can as well.
