alfalfa autotoxicity

how bad will autotoxicity in a newly planted this year alfalfa field be if I tear it up and replant next spring. Stand is bad, think there was herbicide carryover from the fella farming it last year.
thinking of 2 qt round up in about 2 weeks followed a week later with winter wheat with a plow down and replant next spring.

You really should wait a year to be safe. Some people say two years. Grow something other than alfalfa in that field next year and maybe the next year after that, then seed alfalfa.

I have read publications that say the auto toxicity is a function of from the leaves that fall off and dry up. Maybe a new, thin stand has not dropped leaves yet, in enough quantity to affect new seed.

Since it was a "new stand" this year.......you should be alright by replanting it next spring. The toxins are generally of function of "established stands".

I agree 100% with this post. You're good. I've re-drilled stands myself with no problems.
