Proper fee for baling straw?

Hi all,

My neighbor has about 200 acres of wheat he's getting ready to combine. he asked it we'd bale the straw up and we said sure. The problem we're having is coming up with what's fair to charge to do it.

Usually when we put up hay on a neighbor's place it's a 60/40 split. We take the 60%

I figure since I don't have to cut the straw, all I have in it is the baling. is that worth 30%?

Anybody know what the going rate would be?

The 2015 Iowa Custom Farming Rates put out by Iowa State University list baling at $.50-$1.10 per bale in small squares. They put raking at $7-$10 per acre.

Way back when I was part of a crew that baled rice straw they cut the rice tall so we had to go back and cut it a 2nd time. Does he cut his low or high that would make a difference
