sorghum sudangrass

can i spray 24d in sorghum sudangrass with out hurting it.
just pulled cows off of it and there is a lot of weeds i would like to spray.

My Dad used to grow that stuff in the 60's and it made the cows double their milk production. They loved the stuff.

When I grazed it I never worried about spraying it, just grazed the weeds also what few there were.

I"m going to tell you no. Do not use 24-d. It hurts corn whenever the corn gets over 6 inches tall. Sudan grass is a grass just like corn. As the others have said, let it grow. It usually outgrows the weeds. If you have weeds "bad" I'd mow it off. Then, the sudan grass will definitely outgrow the weeds.

Read the label and consider it Milo. As I recall, after the plant has established itself you can spray it. I know Johnson grass tolerates it and they are in the same family. I'd keep the mixture to 1% and about 20 gal of mix per acre. May be the second season before you really see results. I grew the crop for many years and used the product. Don't recall a problem

I really like the product in that it acts as it does and follow on crops continue to benefit from it's application. Some of the best money I ever spent. I have a gorgeous Bermuda patch this year from spraying last year with proper fertilizer and the rains we have had this spring. Gotta really look to see a weed and when you do it's usually an isolated M-I-L-K-W-E-E D.
