have a field of new seeding alfalfa. seeded ryegrass with as a cover crop. With all the rain, its gotten quite mature. But thats not the main problem. The main problem is the giant ragweed that has overtaken part of the field. Went out today with a rotary scythe to cut the outside rounds, which are the worst with weeds. I do this usually because it is next to a creek with trees. I am not as afraid to hit a small tree with the rotary scythe as i am with the discbine. Anyway, it seemed the scythe was chopping up the ragweed into smaller pieces than my discbine, impeller conditioner would. Was kind of wondering if it would make for easier baling and maybe quicker drying with the weeds all chopped up like that. Any opinions?
