City Slicker trying to fix a NH 315 Bale twister

Hello all,

A friend in Medina, Texas had asked me to look at her New Holland 315 Baler that has been sitting in the field for years. I was able to find a manual and have gone through it completely except for the very last step.

Where in the world do I tie the wires for the left and right needles?

The book says the wire is tied to the reinforcing band directly behind the needles, however, the book I have does not tell me what a reinforcing band is or shows any pictures.

Any one have a 315 and can send me some soft of picture or diagram?

Much appreciated.

Luis, look just ahead of the needle yoke pivot pins about the center of the needles and you will see a piece of flatbar going side to side. That is where you tie it off. Hope I explained it good enough.

I've never ever worked with a wire tie, but with twine just pull the twine from the needle, straight back and down to the first stationary brace you come across. That slightly angled flat strap.

Thank you all for the help!

Yes the wire ties off to a solid, non-moving welded bar that is near the pivot point of the needle assembly.

What the manual does not tell, is that you have to load a fake bale to run the needles. This will set up the next, usable bale.
