I'm way behind with two tractors out of commission. Got one going today. I have 87-day corn. Can I still plant in the next couple of weeks and get a crop? It's just a food plot so it won't be harvested. I need to spray, plow and disc before I can plant. It's not RR corn.

You'll be alright. I finished silage corn June 7 last year, the 23rd the year before that. Jump on it tomorrow before those storms get here.

Well.... Can plant now yet and hope for a 2/3 crop of corn, but in a couple weeks...... Not much corn, but the deer can browse the leaves.

If farming were easy everyone would do it? ;)

I planted short season corn last year. I put it in on June 7. Earliest I could get everything to cooperate...especially the weather. Mine worked out all right, but I took it off the field in December. I had an awful lot of people in the area tell me I did good to get it off at all. Stand was good. Yield was off but the field I planted was half flooded most of the summer due to the horrible weather of 2014 and there were not many days with good heat during the summer. I'll be honest with you. If it were me, I would take the seed back to the elevator and start planning for next year. Corn is expensive and a lot of hard work. I would not want to plant in the middle of June in what looks like what might be another cool summer. Just my opinion.

I"ve taken off first cutting alfalfa the first week of June, and planted 90-95 day silage blend....made mature cobs and kernels by silo filling late September. Latitude 45 degrees N. You"re doing food plots- not harvesting a living...wouldn"t worry about it.

I agree, Randy. I should have listened to my inner voice. I bought a diesel and it may be more efficient, but not for a guy who has a limited grasp of gas engine repairs. 'course I could have started on my head gasket last winter. Not much fun working in the cold.
