What is the soonest you have seen it come up after planting? I planted last Wed. and Thurs. and we go a rain the next morning, Temp has been in the sixties and seventies, I swear I see it coming up this morning. Easter Sunday. I did not think it was possible.
 
Usually somewhere between 5-10 days. 'Totally depends upon soil temperature. Sounds like your off to a good start! If I remember right you're an organic producer. What are you going to do about the alfalfa weevil?
 
In the past I have never had any trouble with weevil, but the answer to your question is that it is time to mow if you see any. I have been lucky with alf alfa in the past, but I always planted in the fall, this is the first year for spring planting for me and I don't know quite what to expect...
 
Put some in a week ago Saturday. I see it coming pretty good in the upper bean stubble field today. In the bottom ground it is wetter and sheltered. It actually has its own 'micro climate' down there. 6 days and I was seeing some coming out of the little furrows.
