Last Plant Date for Wheat SW Michigan?

With all the rain, my ground is a little wet to plow. I'm hoping it will dry out some my Sunday. How late can I plant before it's just wasting seed? It's just a food plot, so if it stays too wet, could I plant in spring like oats? It would just be for forage more than seeds.

It's gonna depend on the weather,but it's not too late yet. The best wheat I ever grew was planted in late October one year after I picked the corn.

I wouldn't worry to much about it. If you can get it in fine. If you can't get it done and you have to wait till spring, I would forget winter wheat and either do oats or spring wheat then.

Larry, the tenant on my place just planted wheat on the adjoining property. Asked could he plant mine also but I am not leasing any fields in 2015. Point is, though, the soy is not ready on my leased fields so he would be planting wheat in the next week or two if he were to do it. I was going to plant a field in it myself but the corn is not ready to come off that field and probably won't be for a month.
