I found the old pic of the fluffer, in Photoshop. Like I said, was crude, but quickly made. Pivot cyl mounted at the rear where you see some lugs on top of the frame.

Thanks for that pic.JMS./MIN, you're a genius, that was a great idea putting that swivel on
Looks like just what i need to do with mine. :)

My Gleaner pickup head is 13 feet wide, so the pivot allows switching at each end of the field, maintaining the even spacing of the 14 foot swather. The pipe/chains on the front were a quick solution to pick up the front of the unit when the frame was raised. Hyd drive motor varied speed with the SCV so I could run it just over ground speed and fluff the windrow.

Would it not be better to put the swivel point towards the front over the center of the pickup to limit the swing out?

It would involve more engineering (guessing) to handle the weight cuz you"d still have to start from the rear of the pickup. I don"t remember if I sketched dimensions and calculated curves, but there was no interference with tractor wheels. Built that about 15 years ago, used it once on 40 acres.

I"m sure you will, plus you have some time to toss various ideas around. I had fun last nite pulling up old pix of ideas- and posting on Combine, Tractor, and OT boards. Haven"t been able to access pix for years, and the new Photobucket system is so easy to use now. I need to upload more pix now.

I upload my pics straight from my puter. The pics are stored in my documents. i click on browse, i click on the pic i want in my documents and it is instantly downloaded here,..takes all of 5 seconds.
This site is the fastest of all the sites i frequent.
