3950 JD chopper Adding a Cracker Plate

http://kooima.com/catalog/images/Products/K37442HP.jpg

We've been looking at adding a "Cracker Plate" made by kooima Co. to our 3950 chopper.
Has anyone tried one? How well do they work? The ad claims 80-90% broken kernels. Is there a noticeable power requirement? Feedback from someone with insight/experience would be great
Thanks

Are you sure cracking it will do any good or is it a gimmick?
I knew a guy who used to fill an upright silo with whole shelled high moisture corn and fed it to Holstein steers. The feedlot was full of shelled corn that was going through them. He was going to put some hogs with the steers to clean it up. He sent a sample of the corn from the manure to MSU to have it analyzed so he would know how many hogs he dared put in there. They told him that if he put any hogs in there at all, they would starve to death. They said there was no feed value left in that corn whatsoever after the cattle had digested it.

Dunno if it's a gimmick or not.
putting on a silage processor isn't really an option. Figured I'd check and see if anyone had tried one... breaking more kernels can't be a bad thing.
Thanks rrlund enjoy your posts

a kernel processer uses a fair amount of hp from what I have heard. does your 3950 work pretty good? we have a 3940 hooked to a ih 966. it doesn't take the corn in very good. does yours have the same problem??
