We cut hay on 9 acres that is given to us . The last few years we get 19 4x5 bales off it. last fall I covered it with some composted manure I had stock piled from horses and beef. This year we got 50 plus bales.We took a soil sample before we put the manure on.Iher one now to see what was added

Don't underestimate rain. Not sure what the weather's been like (don't even know where you are) but...
I baled a field yesterday that went 500 bales. Three years ago, very dry year, the same field did 185. No fertilizer either time.

I agree. I custom baled a 16 acre non-fertilized field yesterday that made 6 rd bales last year and 48 rd bales this year. Customer wasn't happy last year when I charged him a $600 minimum fee.

But I'll add cow manure is very good fertilizer as I also bale for a dairyman that spreads a lot of poop that makes a lot bales per acre.

Where are you at TX Jim? I have family in Sulphur Springs. I
have been to most all of the dairies in NE TX.

Are you a milk inspector? Do you know a dairyman named Billy Barton? Newest town in Texas called Coyote Flats. I wanted to die in the country but my neighbors annexed me. 6 miles south east of Cleburne.

No my dad is an A.I. sales rep. I used to ride around with him everyday during summer break. He stops in and sells directly to the dairyman. That name doesn't ring a bell. Even though I have been to most all of the dairies around Sulphur Springs and Stephenville I cannot remember the names.
