Planter plates for cow peas and sweet corn

I am looking into planters, specifically a JD 12 row, and have been told that a bsoy2 from Lincoln would do well for both sweet corn and peas. Anybody got an opinion on this.

I'll check the plates in my planter that I use for cow peas. I use a different planter for sweet corn. Cow peas are generally smaller than soy beans.

I use a B30 24 for cow peas. I have my spacing set at 2.8" in the row. Check the size to compare to a soy2.

I figured there was more to it. I have to do something, hand planting is just not doing it for me at this point. So any help you can give would be appreciated.

On sweet corn I would think you would want the right planter plates to keep from damaging the seed, I would ask the seed dealer what size to use on it. Now on the peas last year I got some new B3 soybean seed plates to use and I am very pleased with the way they worked. The standard B2 soybean plate with average size seed will fit 4 seeds per cell and are 24 cell plates. The new B3 will only fit 2 seeds per sell and are 32 sell plates. They really make a big difference on how a 45 year old planter plants, It spaces the seed out about an 1 1/4" apart in 20" rows or 80 lbs per acre in soybeans. The B3 plates might work good for peas too, Just an idea to think about. Pictures are the B2 and B3 soybean plates. Bandit
