Larry, our apple tree here had so many last year that it broke two limbs. I noticed a lot less blooms this year on all the trees. Cherries are almost non existant.

(and I haven't forgotten I owe you an e-mail, be patient with me...I have a lot going on)

I have several Haralson apple trees that have become biennials.
What happens is that one year there are perfect conditions and the tree is absolutely loaded, overburdened. Thie cases the tree to be weakened and the following year it will barely produce to build reserves back. Then it gets into the cycle.
Best thing is to pick a lot of blossoms and tiny apples from the tree in that good year try to even out production.
Or plant a few more trees.

The wife was saying something about that. She stopped at a farm market for cherries and it went something like - no peaches, cherries, or apples. Do not recall why / what she said but north Ohio was hit. I am guessing a late freeze.

There are some areas here in Michigan where the cold prevented any peaches. Right here locally they're OK. The apples seem to be alright though.

Larry, same thing here in West Pa. And it is not necessarily a biennial thing. I have 8 or 9 trees(same variety) out of 47 that have a decent crop;the other trees have next to none. All had plenty of blossoms and no frost this year. Also there is very little insect damage. Some strange year. Always enjoy your pics.

I'm in Houston and we had a late frost in April. The blossoms got frost bit. No apples or peaches this year.

Have the reverse here. Thought frost killed the blooms, but didn't. Wolf River variety has more fruit than ever before. Lots of apples, very small, all hit with worm, caterpillar, bird damage.
Didn't spray this spring cause didn't expect any fruit like always.

Our apple trees have very few with some with no apples. Our raspberries are nice size this year but are not sweet.

Spraying apple trees is not a one time thing in the spring. You should be spraying at least every two weeks until they are ready to be picked.
So get out there now and hit them again.
