Finally done! Had more danged strange problem this year...1st cut broke the spring on the twine fingers, almost unnoticeable and son and I followed the baler for a full round before discovering the spring was broken half way. 2nd cut the pto U-joint at the baler clutch broke...welded on. I've got a spare parts baler, but to switch of coarse the shaft was female and the one off my baler was male so had to switch hitches too....2-1/2 hours downtime!Yesterday outside knotter quit tying. We fooled with that knotter for an hour before discovering the twine tensioner had cracked! Then on son's first round slipped off edge into peat ground, took a Oliver 77. Super 77 and the skid loader to pull the whole mess out. Got 5 acres to do for the village farm....due for some good luck!

sounds like our luck!

We're still not done - but past the halfway point anyways. Got a lot down right now. Next couple days are going to be brutal (all small square bales)

SOMEHOW I managed to get the hay rolled up that was on the ground just seconds ahead of the rain. I rolled 80 bales yesterday and 90 today. By the time I got done today the lightening was hitting so close I was about to wet myself. The last time across the field the wind was blowing the windrow away and by the last 2/3rds of a bale, there were a few big drops hitting the cab window. No problem,I needed a bale home to feed in the bull pen anyway.
There's still somewhere between 95 and 100 acres to cut yet. Gonna be a long summer. Or a short one, depending on how you want to look at it.

This has been another challenging year Randy. Haying is usually almost forgotten by now....except for 2nd cut!

Not yet half way through 1st cut. I opted out of mowing this week, thought humidity was too high and window too short, but I see rrlund got some baled and some of my neighbors.

1st cut going to happen... dunno when. Rain forecasted everyday but usually doesn't happen. After what you went through Larry, I don't know if I'd want to try a second cut -lol

So you also have not cut hay yet. I did a little but due to calls did not get as much down as I wanted. Looks like unless the weather guessers change there minds I will be able to cut on Tuesday. Rained yesterday and today and a guy up the road has hay down and raked and it got a good washing

Sorry about the bad luck... Sounds like a lot of us in the same boat. Im usually running my second cutting alfalfa now with one or two 20 acre fields of first cutting grass left. Not this year. Got 100 acres been wet since Friday, got 44 rolls rolled before it rained out. Still got 300 acres standing and no weather until Wednesday at least.

been raining every two to three days here, got 8 bales done so far it got washed four times !,troy,mo here
