How high"s the water, paul? Heard your area really got slammed again. Our renter has 120 acres prevented planting on our farm, 80 next door on another. Many similar fields in our area.......starting to remind me of "93, when the caskets were popping out near the Mississippi/Missouri......

Sounds like our area. Our renter hasn't touched the 110 acres they rent from us, field is green with weeds. They fertilized for corn last Fall. Renter across the road has same thing. I got my 6 acres of corn planted the day before Memorial Day, some is around foot tall now. Need to hit it with cultivator as soon as I can get in there, a few weeds popping up, but they're still small. Feel bad for the folks in SW and south MN. Read this morning that 40% of crops in Rock County are lost.

Got everything but a 1/2 acre planted, but doesn't matter. 4.2 inches of rain this morning, never saw the co ditch this full, ever. And it typically keeps rising for another 12-24 hours. Tho with the county road culvert running full, I don't know where it goes from here.

Didnt matter now if I planted the low ground or not, it's all done.

Ah, farming. ;)

Ironic- that"s the windmill east of the barn, right? Time to shut it down- the tank is full.

My youth, walking through the pasture and cranking the windmill on, trying to remember to turn it off in about 4-5 hours.....

Wasn't too long later shallow wells were frowned upon, and we put in a deep well.

Just to the right of that picture is the last corn I planted, 5.5 acres put in June 10th. That's a little late, but it was fertilized and had been very poor alfalfa stand, so gave it a shot. High ph peat ground, corn stays sickly all spring anyhow, then fires up in summer and pulls ahead so figured night as well try. It was just spiking through the ground, couldn't row it yet, the day before the rain......
