Best Way to Deal with Sod

I have a piece on the power line that looks to be quack grass. I'd like to plant wheat in the fall. I can spray with generic Round Up, but I'll still have dead sod. Should I plow and disc it after spraying? Or should I forgo the spraying and just plow and disc now? I don't have any no-till equipment.

Its gonna need sprayed one way or another so you might as well spray, plow, then disk it 4 or 5 times.

What I do is shred it short, several times, till windrows are gone. Then mold board, disc, and cultivate till weeds are starved out for the most part. I'll typically start this in the fall and plant in the spring. I'll plant a row crop so I can cultivate.
I have done this for truck gardens and don't want to use any chemicals. We fight nutsedge and bermuda grass down here in TX. You have to starve those out over several years.

If its quack grass you will have to spray it to get rid of it. Plowing is just cultivation for it. It may not be actively growing enough this time of year to get a good kill. Spring and fall are best times for Roundup and quack grass.
