you were right about plantin early and often. Only about 1/3 of my corn came up. Rest of it rotted. I knew better but ignored my own previous experience ( I guess I have to re-experience that about every ten years - lol). However the fertilizer application/discing and tilling was perfect timing and the weeds/grass are doing real good. Which leads me to a question for you - as a certified organic grower, do you use anything for weed control? We never claim to be organic and only grow for our own purposes, but we have always stayed away from any chemicals. Since everything seems to take more effort nowadays (read getting old) I was thinking of using Preen next year (again trying to stay away from anything harsh). Your thoughts - any one else too!

The only thing I use for weed control is cultivation, that being said, I am playing with vinegar, I will let you know how it works in a month or so, maybe sooner. Also roll my cover crops, for mulch effect.
