Oops! Got My Planter Sprockets Reversed

I wondered why it took so much seed to plant my corn. It's just coming up and what was supposed to be 9.1" looks closer to 3". I thought maybe it was just dropping extra seed. Re-consulted the chart and I got the sprockets reversed. Looks like I'll be doing some thinning. I think that setting was left from last year planting cowpeas. Expensive lesson, but it's only money and the seed only cost around 60 bucks for what I used. I just plant conventional seed not RR. It was last years seed anyway so I'm glad it's gone. Looks like I got pretty good germination.

Sure is, Paul, but an enjoyable one. I never had to back up a trailer so I never really learned. Even with a boat, I usually just had it in the back of the truck. I know to turn the wheel the opposite of where you want to go, I think. Backing the grain drill up has been good practice.

Hey, just let me cultivate your corn, I would probably thin it out real well for you, and I wouldn't even be trying. ;)

LOL! Paul. I do a pretty good job of thinning it cultivating myself. If deer, rabbits and turkeys ate silage, I'd leave it.

Did that same thing.... except it was fertilizer. Ought to have real nice corn to start with. I was putting something like 200lbs and acre down. Another expensive lesson but hey live and learn.
