Is pitiful. Mowed yesterday, I will bale tomorrow, not much growth, clover was blooming and rye is wanting to head out so I thought I better get it. Really do not know if it has been to cold or too dry, maybe a little or a lot of both.

It works out every year, but watching the dairy farmer next door and the heifer feeder down the road a bit, last year and this year the springs have been so cold and wet, their forage just doesn't grow.

My own small 4 acre field of alfalfa doesn't much count, it is planted on a sand hill, but it is very slow. Supposed to be cut next week around here, think we will still be corn planting then.

Keeps me farming, every year is different, find the next challenge. ;)

I was thinking about mowing some tomorrow, but the duals are still on the mowing tractor and the alfalfa is only about knee to mid thigh high. Usually at least waist high. Think I'm gonna wait another week.

Still buying last years hay to feed the beef cows since there is hardly any pasture growth in my area of MN yet. Could be one of those years where I don't start cutting hay of any kind until after July 4th.

Hard to say what the hay crop will be like UP here this summer. Only get one cutting around the 4th of July so we have plenty of time yet.

I'm still feeding hay as our pastures have greened up but there is very little growth and its so wet I hate to have the cattle in there tearing things up.

Just finished grazing the first crop my winter rye wasnt coming so disced that in and replanted oats and alfalfa . parts i didnt disc of rye finnally started growing oats hit one small growing spurt and stalled now grazing around buildings and hopefully upper lot and oats will come soon

My hay is lookin pretty good now that the rain started and the temps are warmin up.
Put a pretty good shot of fertilizer on in April.
