If he used a no til drill I wouldn't be the least bit afraid of it. Might have wanted to lay a little Roundup over it first.
 
We did a lot of that more or less in the past. Dad would run the disk over it, but a little light disk didnt hardly know where you went with the disk it did so little.

As long as the seed got covered, should work out well. I'd plant a tad heavier than normal is all. It comes up a tad slower, and you don't see the oats in the trash so you think maybe it failed - and then finally there it is, doing well.

Looks like I will do that too again this spring, if it ever dries out, run the disk on the stalks the cattle were grazing, and drill oats.
