corn cultivation

Gents, I am looking at this equip. Is this what I need to cultivate my theoretical corn crop? Older fella doesn't know a model number, but it looks like a solid old piece of equipment. I assume if I plant with a 2 row, I need a 2 or 1 row cultivator.

Looks like what you need if you have a John Deere tractor. Looks like John Deere cultivators to me that I see occasionally on some of the old 2 cylinder tractors. There would also be a rear section to complete the unit.

Yes, you are right. If planting with 2 row you need to cult. with 2 row or one row. That looks like a good old cult. Row shields and everything. It will bolt right on a 2 cylinder JD tractor.

Looks like one made for a JD Model A or B tractor, maybe some other similar models. Has the crop shields, an update would be to replace with rolling shields, an aftermarket product. Front mount like this one makes it easier to follow the rows vs a rear mount.

3pt are a lot easier to mount, little harder to follow the row.

You need the right tractor to fit this mounted cultivator on.

Agree rolling shields are better, these sliders work. Take either off when the crop gets bigger.

Works good tho.

By the picture, They look like B200 Quick Attach 2 row Cultivators. I have a set and still use them with a 48 JD B to work 15 acres of sweet corn. They work great.

That is a model 200 cultivator and it has mounts for a 50/60/70 tractor. This being said, with the spring teeth it will do a pretty poor job of getting any weeds you have. If you are only interested in busting a crust they will work fine. They just won't get established weeds very well. If you do buy the cultivator be sure you get the rockshaft arms, lift pipes and depth levers and linkage. These often get left with the tractor (except the lift pipes) and when the tractor got traded in the cultivator can't be used because the parts aren't all there. Mike

After looking at the picture again I can see the lift pipes and depth levers. Perhaps all the pieces are there. It's hard to tell for sure. Mike

There should also be a set of rear workers that go on the rear of the axle to cover up the wheel tracks.....
