Turnip Prices

I paid .99 / lbs for a turnip up here in northern ont. I think it was gold plated L.O.L. Got me thinking, maybe I should grow turnips and whole sale them for .50 lbs ,only problem is , I'm not set up for waxing , so I would have to sell them fresh ?

Food prices are still cheap. Wonder how much of it does the grower gets out of the 99 cents? At 99 cents he would of had to sell 4 lb to buy gallon of gas to haul it to market! Some times we remember when prices were a lot lower, Like the post yesterday on the high power tractors of the 1960's and the 17 cent a gallon for diesel fuel to run it.It is hard to think what farm product prices need to be now in 2014 to make a living after all the modern expenses.
