Need to find a source of tobacco

I am looking for a source of tobacco that I can make my own chewing tobacco. Do any of you know of any growers that will sell to an individual?

Make sure you get the kind or kinds of tobacco you want. There are literally dozens of tobacco types with radically different properties and flavors. Moist moist chewing leaf tobacco is based on dark air cured and most moist snuff products are based on dark fire cured. Both of these grow in very specific areas. Flue cured and burley (light air cured) are typically used in cigarette blends though I prefer an unflavored burley twist. Your dark tobaccos will be found in western KY and western TN almost exclusively.

Legal to grow where I live for personal use. Need permits and licenses and so on to raise for marketing. Tobacco has a little to long of growing season for here, but can be raised if started in a hot bed and transplanted to lengthen the season. Different tobacco's are raised for different products such as smoke & chew and so on. Make sure if you raise it, your raising something that can be made into what you want. I think it is a little work and you need to know a little about how to do it. Never done it myself but have read. Tasted raw tobacco one time, and it was really bitter. Not sure what they do to it to make it taste like chew. But, hey, I could of been tasting tobacco intended to be smoked too.
