Crop reporting

I sure hope I don't start a fight. It doesn't seem to take much these days.
Just wondering though, what everybody else who doesn't have crop insurance is going to do when it comes to reporting crops to FSA and answering NASS surveys now that DCP is gone? My attitude is,I'm not getting a dime, they're not getting any info.
I got some survey on land rents the other day. I wrote on it that if they wanted to survey me on livestock numbers,I'd answer it,but not to send me anything on crops anymore,I won't answer it. I know the phone will ring off the hook, but I'm going to hang up on them every time.
Same thing with FSA,I'm not going in to report acres. Not trying to be a hard a**,I'm just not going to hand out free information.

I am not in any programs here on the home farm so I do not report anything to FSA.My landlord on the rented farm is in several programs so on his land I have to go in and report acers. It only takes about 10 min to do.I do not fill out any nass forms and will tell them over the phone that the less info the gov has the better it is for farmers.

I am sorry, but I just do not see the rub. I do not cash rent any land and I filled their survey out, it did not take any time on line. I do not have any cattle either, but if I get a chance to give up some information that can help you or some other person out, what is five minutes of my time?

Just tell them your not interested in participating when they call. I finally did that last fall and they quit calling. They called for the spring deal yesterday. Got the same response from me.

Remember when the market went in the tank last fall right before harvest? That was right after USDA released its projections for fall harvest off the fall survey data. They aren't helping us, they're screwing us.

I love those surveys whats your best crop marijuana how many cattle do you have 10 live 3 poorly 4 at the neighbors the list goes on funny the dont send them to me anymore im not sure why

Doesn't seem to matter what I say to them, they just keep calling. I hung up one one and she called right back and asked me if we got cut off?

I always fill them out, never know when some program is going to come up down the road that I want in on. Of course, right now I've got active CSP and EQIP contracts so Im still on the hook anyway.

ERik, you're smarter than that. You are only looking at one side of the coin. If that data had shown "less" projected yield and acres and the market had rallied, would you have been saying you were getting screwed then too? I"ve worked with these markets for years and the reports can go either way.

Perhaps I'm still a bit bitter over 2012 Randal. Watched a crop burn up while USDA projected record yields and then in 2013 I grew the best crop in 4 years and watched the market plummet. A couple dollars a bushel more would have gone along way towards digging out of hole left by 12 bushel corn the year before. I would rather see the market reflect hard data than watch it be manipulated at whim by the government.
