They shut the roads last night, maybe 9:00. Still closed as of now. Wide area of southern MN. Winds still over 20mph. Temp is down to 9, but that will feel warm in a few days.

Schools are so far, 2 hours late. I assume that will change in a couple hours, the winds continue until 2:00pm.

Was tough driving yesterday at 4pm, low visibility with large wet flakes, 25mph winds, and 3-4 of slush on the roads.

Got up to 48 mph winds over night.

We have a coworker of my wife's on the couch, got off work at 11:00pm and roads closed....

The local radio is saying several people have stayed over at Dave's Place, the bar in the town of 500 people. They report there could be worse places to be stranded at over nite.....

We probably deserved this one. I really don't know as there was any Minnesotain that wasn't at least secretly chuckling at those folks in Atlanta that had to shut down for a 2 inch snowfall.

So, we got more or less the same thing, little rain, then 3 inches of slush, then 2 inches of snow and 40mph winds, so we have ice, frozen crusty deep slush, and big snow drifts on top.

Our own fault for grinning at others tho....

However the entire 7 day week starting on Sunday of minus nightime temperatures, some at minus 15 again, is piling it on a little bit! ;)

Paul, how do you keep your sanity in that kind of environment? Do you read a lot, or putter in a shop, gourmet cook or perhaps stay drunk? I would go bat crap crazy with all the snow and cold on the ground for so long.

Went to chiro yesterday, roads clear and wet. Two hours later, snow, wind, under 40mph driving. Got only 4-5 inches snow but winds are still terrible today. "sposed to head to St. Cloud in an hour to plan our summer Alaska cruise. I think we"ll take the truck!
