I have zero experience, so take this for what you pay for it.
Notill is a very very rare thing in my area, so again.....
On other forums, some suggest you will have some rows come up poor that way, as you say on top of the old row or terrible close.
Some suggest if the field allows, plant at a 10-15 degree angle to the old rows.
This allows the row cleaners to walk through the old rows so they clean out a lot better and plant better, and each row has a tiny problem so everything is equal, perhaps up the planting a very tiny amount, few 100.
Again, take for what its worth....
