IH 45 field cultivator question

I have one that is in pretty decent shape, as you all know they don't handle much trash very well. On mine, the levelers always plug. What I'm thinking of doing this spring is, replacing the sweeps with spikes, taking the levelers off, building a frame where the levelers would be and having two rows of S tines.
Of course having the S tines spaced out enough so they don't plug.
The frame will be build so the S tines aren't digging much, maybe 2''. Just enough to level things off.
Now my question is, what sweeps to put on the S tines to give the smoothest field? There are a lot of options, I haven't used or heard much talk about "duckfeet" do they level as good or better as say a 9" sweep would?
Anyone have any ideas, comments, or any reason this idea won't work?

If I were to go to the work of modifying it. I think I would try to
add a other beam across and plan out a new pattern so the
existing shanks could be spaced out more. Like a slightly
newer model would have.
