hay tedders

What brand would you buy? 4 basket only, have been looking at a kuhn and a tonutti cant quite decide which one they are built pretty similar.

We have an old Kuhn 2 basket. Thing never gave a bit of trouble. Spent $170 to replace two sheetmetal stampings that had cracked out over the years. The first parts we have put on it other than teeth and a tire in close to 20 years. I would buy another if it wasnt for the fact that the only dealer that carries Kuhn around here also sells JD and they are the rudest most arrogent dealer I have ever dealt with.

I use a H&S tedder, like it because if I need to flip hay, it does not destroy the windrow where the baler can not pick it up and need to rake before baling. Ran it off a 23 horse tractor with ease.

Kuhn will have way more resale than a tonutti, and they have a better reputation here. New they are a lot more as well, I think about 8k vs 5k. I've had a Kuhn, and it never gave any trouble at all.

Take a look at a Pequea TT4000 and, if you can find one, and Esch. Both are really good machines.

pequea is not to common around here where i work sells kuhn, so parts would be easier to get, thanks tho

Im not sure but I think tonutti made my New Idea, if they did, get the kuhn. Cant be any bigger head ache than this one is.

I'm still here, got kinda scarce over the past year. Had some health issues and so did most of my help. Then there was the new lady friend, lol....

It's been different this year, for sure. Up until about July I couldn't hardly cut hay for loading trucks. Then all of a sudden bumper crops of garbage hay has made it tough for me to sell at the price I feel like I have to have (I decided a long time ago I wasn't chasing the bottom of the market). I've lost 80% of my customers which actually bought about 20% of my hay. Not an overall bad situation unless I lose one of these few that are left. They are all bigger farms who strictly want the best but are willing to pay for it.

So, I'm still here. How's things with you? Staying warm and dry?

Sorta staying warm and dry...mostly muddy.
Its been interesting year. Upgraded to a BR740A. What a machine! We had a lot of rain this year. Made a lot of baleage, but havent been able to sell large loads cause no one is short on feed. All my sales are 3-4 bales to the hobby guys. Started growing sorguhm sudan grass. Steers like that way better than mixed hay. Its a pain to harvest/bale, but might be worth it. They consume a lot more.. Starting to experiment with liquid molasses, thats another story....
Got 2 little ones running around, takes a lot of time.. Trying to get my parents nailed down on whats happening to the farm. Wife and I need to make plans for the future...Almost can afford to buy my own place, but not quite yet. Out of hay storage, filled the barn and no room for equipment and need a cattle barn, but not looking to put 30K into pops property...decisions decisions

we just ordered a vermeer 4 star for this year. We need something that will spread heavy rows of rank rye or triticale. We have quite the collection of broken tedder teeth the metal detector in the chopper found from other brands. Vermeer has a 1 year waranty on their hook tines. Krone tedders have a good reputation in grass and their hydraulic angle option would be awesome for small fields and waterways. There are probably cheaper options that will work just fine in normal hay conditiins.

I bought a new Sitrex last summer. Brand was mainly chosen by what was available when my old Fahr broke. I'm happy with it, takes more power than my old Fahr 4 basket but does a lot better job.
