Striped tomatoes help

I figure some of you guys might know what my problem is. I have tried growing striped tomatoes for a couple of years now with no luck. They just don"t want to grow and produce very little, but all my other tomatoes do really good. Big boys, Roma, Long Keepers all do very well in the same soil. All the varieties are planted very far apart so that shouldn"t be a problem. My main garden is 1/2 acre and I plant them on opposite ends. I am going to do some soil tests this year to see what I find but it doesn"t make sense why all the others do well but striped ones don"t. Maybe they don"t like the mountain dirt they are planted in. Thanks for all your help.

Where did you get the seed? If you saved the seed from some tomatoes you ate they might be F1 hybrids that won't make fruit when the seeds are re-planted. Most older hybrids like big boy, better boy etc. only had 2 ''parents'' and will replicate while some of the newer hybrid varieties, especially rejuvenated heirlooms, might have as many as 8 ''parents'' and even if they do make the fruit may not be anything like the tomatoe that yielded the seed. It could be the same problem with store bought plants. If not sure of your seed or plant source maybe try ordering seed from a large specialized nursery and start your own plants.

The plants I tried from two different local specialized nurseries. One is a local feed and seed supply and the other was a woman who has greenhouses at her home. I know of other people who bought their plants at both places and havent had any problems. I suppose I could get a greenhouse and grow my own from seed.

Feed and seed supply and a woman who grows them at her house are not specialized nurseries and you don't need your own green house to start a few tomatoe plants, a sunny window sill is all you need. I didn't guaruntee that what I suggested was your problem I proposed a possibility given the other information you provided.
