planting Bermuda grass

I live in middle Georgia and was thinking about planting 25 acres of Bermuda grass for hay and grazing. I thought about sprigging Tift 44 but I have some friends that have planted CheyenneII. It is so hard to keep fescue here because of the droughts we get and the high 90 to 100 degree heat. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Jiggs is the Coastal that everyone is raving about where I live in Texas. I've seen several neighbors seed Giant Bermuda here but none of it that I've seen has done any good.

I seed common bermuda. It's much hardier than the hybrids. It doesn't produce, theoretically, as well as the hybrids. I graze and don't hay it. It's very consistent for me and is producing when I see the high dollar fields turning brown.

Sprigging was too cost prohibitive for me and very dependent on the weather.

Seeding has worked well for me as the seed won't germinate till conditions are right. I spread hulled with the fertilizer in the fall and un hulled in the spring.

In South Central Tx, we sprig almost exclusively coastal and Tifton 85. The 85 gives more production and is preferred by people who graze, and the coastal is usually preferred by people who sell hay to horse people, which is a whole nuther subject. The 85 seemed to survive the 2011 drought better than coastal, as we have re-sprigged some fields that were coastal to 85. There are a few Jiggs fields, but it is suseptible to rust. Not a whole lot of seeding of Cheyenne or NK 37 Giant Bermuda here.
