I need to send my brother in Denver some stereo equipment: DVD player, turntable, CD player, etc. What is the best way/carrier. The speakers I can put in a big box. Should I pack the other components singularly or together with foam packing between/around the components? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Pack everything well. the standard is 2" of packing around all sides for things in boxes (courier companies usually all have the same standard). the more separate pieces you have the more chance of one getting lost so thats something to keep in mind. One other thing is sometimes turntables and CD players had special locking mechanisms so they could be shipped safely without damage you might look into that as there are usually special instructions in the manuals for when you unpack them to have these locking mechanisms released or removed.
