killing dallis grass

How can I kill dallis in a bermuda grass hay field? Seems like anything that will kill the dallis like roundup will also killl the bermuda. Thanks

I was told by a large local Coastal Bermuda grower to forget pre-emergents and apply 12 oz's per acre of Roundup within 3 days after hay was removed from the field. I was also thinking maybe Pastora would get Dallisgrass but the label didn't state that it would.

If you apply with a weed wiper instead of a sprayer you can use roundup or anything else as long as the Dallis grass is higher than the Bermuda which I think is always the case. Wiping weeds costs roughly 1/10th of what spraying does in herbicide costs.

You can use Roundup after the FIRST CUTTING ONLY. Do
not ask how I know. You can safely use 6 to 8 ounces per
acre.

Thanks for the info,I have tried roundup at a pint per acre with little results but it turned off dry and didn't give the bermuda grass chance to cover in the spots and then the dallis came back guess I will try it again next year and maybe we can get a little more rain.

I can't help it but why do you know? What was the difference after the first cutting? It is hard to kill bermuda grass

I sprayed some after second cutting against county agents advice. I severely stunted some spots and actually killed some in a two year old field.
