does anyone folier feed soybeans-what analisesand how much per acre. iam going to try this year......I got 11-8-5 from hartland ag. farmer city il.... was told to put 2qt per ac. does this sound rite??

You need everything else about right before foliar feeding....

Look at the amount, it is very small.

You can correct a small shortage or weather or insect damage issue, bring the plants around.

But you can't correct a major deficiency, like if your soil fertility is way off.

Like the other fella said, do a tissue test, see what your plants actually need. You might get a lot more out of some micro nutrients that are short, if your soil fertility is high in the big nutrients....

Foliar is a good idea, but it is very small steps, it only pushes a little in a direction, you need the rest of your program already in place, up to snuff.

Just my opinion, I like to experiment with stuff too, so not against the idea at all. Just, get you in the right direction is all, foliar is more for helping a known problem, not just applying stuff off the cuff?

At 2 qt. to the acre you are actually only putting on about a half of unit of N, about a half a unit of p and .25 units of k to the acre.

Remember it takes about 10 gallons per acre to get the 11-8-5 per acre.

Is it worth the trip across the field if your soil is already healthy.

If you do decide to do it leave a few rows undone and test yield it this fall and let us know how it turns out. I would like to know if it pays.

2 years ago We sprayed fungicide on 20@, foiliar alone (8-19-3 a starter at 64 oz per @)on 20, 8-19-3 with a pound of sugar on 20@, and 20@ nothing for a check. nothing did the best with starter and the sugar a close second. The farmer was in his 70"s and is the last actual farmer I know of. 38 inch rows and places on or near the top in yield checks. He always puts down dry fert wheather the tests show he needs it or not. How do you fault that. But no where near scientific for the skeptics.

about 18 ac, 100lb potash and nutra lime per ac . beans are uniform at 14ins high sprayed last night with 20 gpa water,28oz buckinere and 2qt of 11-8-5 see if I can get them to grow more. plenty of time in flowerin stage now. some nods just showin. sory no test strip. got another 20ac I want to do will leave test stripe there.
