I don't know what is driving it but the hay prices are going crazy. I sold all my small square bales, some alfalfa, some mix, and some all grass for 4.50 in the field pre harvest. Today a neighbor stopped on the road where I was raking, walked out into the field and asked if he could buy the hay. Offered 8.50.there's a $4000 loss.

Im in Minnesota Have not cut 1st crop yet. Maybe Sunday its 3and half feet tall people that have cut rained on only going to get 3 cuts this year this sucks but thats life Last year prices may be good compare to this year. ITS GOING TO BE WILD Lot of winter kill in Midwest on Alfalfa good luck all. Red

Got a boarder with 2 horses and a pony. One horse is 25 and has Laminitis. I cut about 6-8 acres last weekend and got 225 sm squares of pretty nice late Orchard grass and Ti9mothy. I also ran out of hay on Sunday night, so needed hay Monday.

Well, my grass hay was too fresh for Her horse so she found a guy that had some of 1st cut mixed grass hay with 10% alfalfa from last year. $10.00/bale and they bought it.

I hear you. Out of state dealer just took my entire supply of first cut orchardgrass alfalfa rolls. 4x5, net wrap, inside stored and sweated, for $55 and never blinked. Wire cleared today semis coming at daylight. That matches last years peak for me for load lots.

Yeah, something is going on here too, and I dont get it...
Normally cant sell any round baleage this time of year, gotta wait untill winter. Sold 1/2 my first cutting, and got a guy that would like the other half. Yields have been good this year so I am not sure why people are stocking up...
