2nd crop sweet corn?

I'm just outside Houston and am considering putting in a 2nd planting of sweet corn. 1st planting was excellent. We froze around 250 quarts.

I've never tried it before due to the fact that it's usually too dry this time of year and this year is worse. However the difference is I can irrigate. Not talking about a lot , 8 rows 150' long.

Can it get too hot? Temps will constantly bebe in the 90's with the occasional 100 degree days. Tomatoes will not produce due to heat right now no matter how much you irrigate?

We typically don't get a frost and if we do it will be into November or December.

Will it make?

I'm 300 miles north of you and usually plant the first 2 weeks of august and get a crop before frost. Won't plant any this year cause we're so dry. Had 3.3 inches this year. Fixin to go to stage 4 water rationing which means no outside watering at all. Grasshoppers have eaten anything green. Will try again next year.

I am about the same latitude as you.
LSU does not recommend a fall crop of sweet corn mostly because of insects.
If you want to try it I would wait at least to the first 2 weeks of Aug before I planted.
Do not expect it to be anything like the spring crop; water it well especially in the silk stage and be prepared to fight the insects.

For me it is not worth it because the corn is taking up space I could be using to grow crops more suited for fall. Such as Cauliflower; Cabbage; Brussels Sprouts; Garlic; Shallots and Onions.
