Planted a little silage corn

Well,I broke the ice and got a little bit of silage corn mudded in,but it's the ugliest bunch of patchwork mess I've ever made. Been a long lot of years since I've had to chain the planter out,but I did it today.

Had a field that was dry enough to get on the full width of the back of it,but both front corners are under water. The whole thing just V's to the front to the little bit where I can get all the way across. Trouble is,right in the middle of the V there's another big round wet spot. I rutted it up everywhere that I tried to turn around.

If there hadn't been more rain in the forcast for tonight, tomorrow and Monday,I never would have touched it. It's gonna be another big mess to try to fill in all the wet spots and match up the rows, that's IF they dry out by late July. Gonna have to draw the line on a last date sometime.

PITA, but I've planted silage up to early July before. Not as much yield, but the cows didn't complain. You still gotta feed them something...

Ya,I planted some July 8th one time on some of the ground that I don't have planted yet.
Rained again over night by the way.
