What is it worth share wise to mow and rake?

Neighbor's brother has some ground about 15 miles away that he normally cuts for hay. He is not doing it this year and has offered it to his son-in-law and me. He wants nothing out of it would just be a split between the two of us. If I mow with my tractor and mower, then rake with my tractor and rake(his is bigger then mine), what is a fair split? He would haul my tractor over there for me.

depending on your situation 2/3 to yo u and 1/3 to him ,thats how my bro and neighbor and I do ,,.. sometimes we work alone , sometimes we team up to beat the weather ,,.. sometimes we rotate the raking ..ect

Son-in-law wants 2/3 to bale it leaving me with a 1/3 to mow and rake it.

In my are if you mow rake and bale you do a 1/3 2/3 s thing the guy who does the work gets the 2/3s. In your case you mow and rake but he bales then it should be a 50/0 thing

For several yrs before I bought a cutter I gave 40% of my baling charge to the cutter operator IE he got 40% for cutting & I got 60% for raking & baling. So for cutting & raking I think 50% certainly not 33.3%

I wouldn't get too greedy. You mowing it and him bailing it
should be a good 50/50 split and him hauling your tractor and
letting you use his rake while you rake it would be a good
50/50 split maybe even better for you. If you guys agree to
split it down the middle I would be happy.

I think he is being a little greedy, he wants 2/3 of the hay for baling leaving me with 1/3 for mowing and raking it. Only reason to use his rake, a little wider than mine.

Just trying to make sure I was not the one being greedy. I thought a 50/50 split would be pretty fair. Maybe 60% for baler man and 40% for mowing/raking.

I want both parties to be happy but don't want to put more into it than I could buy hay for.

Drive your tractor and machinery over there. Fifteen miles is nothing. When we are chopping cornstalks it is not unusual to drive the tractors sixty miles on the road in one day. I would go for fifty fifty. You are going over it twice compared to his once.

I'm at $22 to cut, rake, and roll which is 10 to cut
and rake, and 12 to roll but includes the 2.00 worth
of net wrap.

I don't see how a person can come out cutting and raking for only a third, do you?

Well I just might have just made a mistake but told the guy I can't cut and rake for only a third. He said he normally bales for a third of the hay. I thought a 50/50 split was good or maybe a slight bit more to him. Guess it is sometimes hard to do business with friends/neighbors.

I was looking at it even at $25 hay he would be getting $12.50 baling, maybe give him some extra for using his rake and hauling my tractor the 15 miles. I can buy hay within 4 miles of the farm for $25-28.

Around here. I do A 50/50 split I cut, rake and bale then for the better fields I pick it up and stack it for them. just to sweeten the deal. Lower quality fields land owner picks up his share.
