Correct Way to Plant Odd Areas

Most of my plots are not nice rectangles or squares. They have odd little doglegs, for lack of a better term. When I planted corn, I planted these areas first, lifting the planter when I hit the edge of the rectangular area. Once these short rows were done, I planted the long rows through the end of the short rows, where I lifted the planter. It seemed to work, but is that the correct way to do odd areas?

if you are not planning on running any kind of harvest equipment then the only "correct" way is the one which allows you to get everything planted where you want it...

When planting to harvest most try to have the longest rows possible without a lot of turning around.

Turning waste time.

When planting for wildlife they could care less which way it is planted.

Plant which ever way is easiest for you until the deer complain.:)~})

Side dressing, spraying, cultivating all work best with the longest rows, one wouldn't splice together that way.

Food plots, have fun, doesn't matter.

There is no right and wrong way- unless you're working for someone else. Planter in the ground and the fewest turns is most efficient, even if you have to use the main part of the field for your turnrow. Sometimes the way things lay, that's just how it works out.

I planted a field the other day, that has a turnrow out in the middle of it, on top of and below a terrace.
