No-till Corn

I am not sure this planting method is suitable to my soil!It is lower ground and I was told it has to be really dry to plant. It is turning green with weeds. It is round-up ready seed, but still. If I had planted conventional, the corn would be planted!Patience is a virtue! However!!!!

I think it totally depends on your area/soils. In my area (SE KY) no-till is a old Indian word for no-yield. If you go 70 to 80 mi. up I-75 almost everything is no-till. You just have to find what practices work for your area. I started with a turning plow, and disc. Now Im using a ripper/subsoiler, chisel plow, and a disc. As soon as funds allow I'll park the disc in favor of a field cultivator/finisher. All I know for sure is that the least amount intercoursing around you do with the soil (and still have a acceptable seed bed)the better off you are. It know that sounds obvious, but there are a lot of old timers around here that aren't happy until they have pounded the ground into oblivion. And yeah patience IS a virtue!

That's pretty good, what part of Illinois u in? All the big notill guys by me got out their no-till disks and no-till field cultivators this year.

I am in Wisconsin about 20 miles East of Green Bay. I guess I will have to wait and maybe it will turn out!
