First cultivation

How long do yall normally cultivate the garden for the first time? Talking peas beans and corn here are just breaking the ground but the weeds are as well. I am using a one row unit behind a small Yanmar tractor so I am pretty accurate with it.

It was 17 degrees this morning, should get up to 33 for a high,
so your message is sort of a April fools to me....

In corn-soybean farming, if you see the weeds come up you
waited too long for the first cultivation. Typically a drag or
rotary hoe operation for the first time. Need to get that first
flush when they are still little white hairs almost ready to beak
the surface.

So, I'd be going with the cultivator.

But I'm not used to your type of crops, so take that into
consideration..... I'd sure run a shallow angled harrow aka drag
over the corn just as I see the first cracking or the soil, or a
couple leaves just starting to poke up. You won't hurt much
corn at all tho it looks scary, and the weeds would have been
ripped up. Probably too late for that now by the time you are
reading this.
