seed for hay fild

well been working for two days discing in corn stalks and getting ready to sow the fild to hay.. guy that owned the property called the see place and asked for opion on what to plant for a hay fild but wanted something to draw deer in to and they told him 150#orchard grass 100#red clover and 50#white clover and 25# of chicory... why in the heck would u want chicory for hay.. all i read is that stuff is bad news.. so i sugested we drop the chicory and up the grass or clover... i like clover.. it produces nitrogen..free fertlizer..lol

if you want deer, add the chicory, they love it... it won"t last north of the 49th... the deer hammer it too much and then it winter kills...

Drop the chicory and add alfalfa. 'Will last a lot longer than the other legumes and deer love it.

Hate that stuff; chicory. Can't imagine planting it. Continually spray the few that show up with the hope of finally eliminating it. Plenty of local deer, but they seem to like corn or any other planted crops much better.

I use it for coffee but the wild chickory nothing eats. I can't imagine you could bale it.
