I was wondering if anyone is planting corn yet? Still cold and wet here in Il and looking forward to more rain today!!

We will be as soon as it quits raining for 4 or 5 days in a row, the latest I have ever planted was April 8th back in the eighties, most years in the first half of March, 2012 was eariest I ever planted, Feb. 29th.

Yikes.

Says the Minnesota bunch. ;)

I've planted oats 2, possibly 3 times in very late March, last day or 2.

It's an early year if I get the corn planter going by April 20th.

We got an inch of rain on top of the frozen ground and 8 inches of snow that was out there, it's just a _tad_ squishy out there. :)

I hear from the grave diggers that we have a foot of frost here, and ground so dry below that it isn't froze.

Discing today and tomorrow. Was planning to plant the 15th or so, but nights still chilly and will probably have to wait till the 22nd. We usually plant before April first here.

Anyone in the south ever double crop? I was thinking about trying a few acres this year if I can get it picked by mid July like last year. Using 85 day OP corn

The wife and I took a road trip today west over to the Illinois river and things look pretty damp over there. It appeared they had a bit more snow over there that we didnt have. Gonna be a few weeks here before any work starts.

Corn is about 5-6" high just south of Houston. I just planted my 1st batch of sweet corn. Rest of the garden is going in tomorrow.
