first off i live in central ky.. im looking at puting up a hoop building for storing square bail hay. i usualy sell the hay... im looking at a farmtek econline 30+50 on a pony wall..has a 7 year warntiee tarp made of 10oz matiral. my question is how well do these hold up.. and has anyone used any of the farmtek econline hoop buildings.. we dont see much snow here and im wanting to put it in a bottom so wind should not be a problem.. any thoughts on the hoop buildings and anyone have a farmtek that is over 7 year old?

Hi, I don't have a farmtek building, but i used one of their hay tarps that i stretched over a green house frame. My greenhouse is 32x 48. I use it to store hay also. I'v had the tarp for 6 years and we have brutal winters here in central New York. Snow, high winds, ice storms, etc. So far the tarp has stood up well. It is their silver/white model . Dont have a catolog in front of me so I forget how many oz. I have 2x10 cca boards along the bottom of the "hoops". Just Lay the tarp on the ground next to the building on a windless day, staple, nail, and use wood laths to attach on one side. Pul it up and over with ropes and helpers and nail the other side. tack on some lath on the end walls and you are done. Sometimes people are getting rid of greenhouses on Craigslist for cheap. Good tarps though. I would buy another.

I have helped my BIL put new pastic on his greenhouse twice. He uses a double layer and blows air between them. It is a job!!!!

I do not have far trek, but we have 2 Pride of the Farm hoops. We have had them for 13 years plus they were used for about 4 years when we bought them from a neighbor. Tarps are still good except for where a dead snag fell and tore a 10"x10" hole in a corner. I believe they had a 15 yr warranty on the tarps, so they have outlived that. They are perfect for hay storage and I would highly recommend a hoop building for storage.

well all this is good news to know..lol.. keep it coming guys.. i belive im gonna order the 30+50.. my only problem is im gonna have to clear a few trees next to were i wanna put it..

I like that "on a windless day" comment. Made me laugh. I've been in this part of Montana for 12 years and have yet to see one of those =)

I have two, one is eight years old and the other was put up last year. You might want to check out ky hoop barns in marion county. Joe Paul has the best prices I have found. Sam

yeah, we get wind all year too. MANY days with 50mph gusts all day and all week. Lake effects snow.....but in the spring , and in the summer ...when it's 100 degrees we DO get days with no wind. I'm sure you have green houses out by you. They get covered somehow. Low or no wind and a few helpers. Gotta have faith

I agree it is possible, and there are actually quite a few days where it is not too gusty (almost never a day with less than 5-10mph, but most with less than 30) There are a fair number of poly covered greenhouses and the Farm-Tek hoop buildings around. The comment just struck me as funny at the time.
