Was thinking about planting some sunflowers for the wildlife, Now my question, can I use a grain drill to plant these? and when should they be planted?

We plant sunflowers with both a planter and a drill. Drilling is best when you use a preemergence and the flowers act to block sunlight to weeds and works fine. Planting roundup ready sunflowers is extremely expensive so we plant cheap seed in 30 inch rows in some fields and cultivate. (Pre emergence helps here also)
We plant in April, late May, and late June so we have seeds as long as possible. Late seeds are very good dove shooting, if so inclined. I recommend several plantings starting as early as weather would allow in your area.
